The Directorate of Human Capacity Development is one of the key channels through which God is raising, training and strengthening workers for His harvest. Our Directorate exists to build people spiritually, biblically and practically for effective service in the Kingdom of God.
Through carefully designed trainings, workshops and field-based capacity-building initiatives, we help equip believers, translators, facilitators, teachers and community workers with the knowledge, skills and spiritual grounding needed to serve God faithfully in ministry, in the church, and in the world.
Every training we conduct is anchored in the conviction that transformed people transform communities. We therefore pursue growth that is not only intellectual, but also spiritual, relational and missional — raising men and women who can minister effectively to God, to the brethren, and to the world, bearing fruit that remains.
Our mandate is to provide biblically grounded and practically relevant training that deepens Christian character, strengthens ministry effectiveness, and enhances service delivery in Oral Bible Translation, community engagement, trauma healing and other mission-focused assignments.
We are committed to helping participants grow in understanding, maturity and skill so that they may serve with excellence, integrity, compassion and spiritual sensitivity. Whether in the classroom, in the community, or in the field, our trainings are designed to inspire godly transformation and to prepare workers who can faithfully carry the message of Christ to the nations.
Conducted at the commencement of every Oral Bible Translation project, the ETTW equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills required for accurate and effective oral translation of Scripture into heart languages. Participants are introduced to the principles of exegesis and meaning-based translation, and develop practical skills such as storytelling, retelling, community testing and oral comprehension.
At the commencement of the Irapada Project, this workshop was successfully held from 11th to 22nd August at MorJoke Suites & Conference Centre, Igbekebo, Ese-Odo LGA, Ondo State — creating a strong foundation for the project and deepening the participants’ confidence, unity and commitment to faithful Scripture rendering.
Our Render Training Workshop equips participants from diverse language groups with the tools and approaches needed to use their work tools effectively and contribute meaningful translated Scripture for the benefit of their communities. It also familiarizes participants with the storytelling skills and translation approaches required for successful project engagement.
In 2025 the Directorate recorded a major milestone through the successful approval of 30 sections of the Book of Luke during a Render Workshop — a reflection of structured training, skilled facilitation, collaborative learning and the commitment of participants to excellence.
Organized for communities that have experienced pain, loss, conflict and emotional distress, this workshop helps participants discover biblical and practical pathways to healing, forgiveness, restoration and renewed hope. Through guided sessions, participants learn how to process grief, overcome emotional wounds, release unforgiveness, and share healing truth with others.
CBBT strengthens the capacity of translators, language facilitators and community representatives involved in Oral Bible Translation projects. By bringing together key stakeholders from the language communities, it helps ensure that translation work is owned, understood and embraced by the people it is meant to serve.
Our team facilitated a full-day Discovery Bible Study training session for school teachers, including both teaching and non-teaching staff, equipping participants with practical skills for leading Discovery Bible Studies in school and community settings. Free Bibles were distributed to all Christian teachers present. This training reflects our desire to raise Scripture-based disciple-makers in places of influence and to help believers carry the light of the Gospel into schools, classrooms and local communities.
Participants in the Irapada Project testified to powerful personal breakthroughs. One participant who had carried the pain of losing his wife in an accident for many years described his former state as a “village of No Hope,” but after the workshop testified that he had entered a “village of New Beginning.” Another realized during the forgiveness session that she had been imprisoned by unforgiveness, and joyfully declared that she could now forgive easily.
During the “Taking It to the Cross” session, participants collectively testified that their heart wounds, grief and traumatic burdens had been lifted, and that they were walking in renewed peace and freedom.
These milestones are more than activities; they are evidence of lives being strengthened, communities being touched, and the Gospel being advanced through intentional capacity development.
The work before us is great, but so is the grace of God. Through your prayerful support, sacrificial giving and partnership, more workers can be trained, more communities can be reached, more hearts can be healed, and more languages can receive the life-transforming Word of God.
We invite believers, churches, mission partners and friends of the Gospel to stand with us as we continue to equip workers, strengthen communities, and make disciples of all nations for the glory of Jesus Christ.
